Fisheries and Oceans Canada researchers plan to erect salmon counting fences/structures on these rivers to monitor the returning salmon populations. These devices are usually located within a kilometre from the mouth of the river.

The following rivers have fishways that may incorporate water diversion

dams:

Bernards Brook (Conne River tributary)

Lomond River

Lower Terra Nova RiverMiddle Brook (David Smallwood Park)

Northeast Placentia RiverRattling Brook, Camp 1 (Exploits River tributary)

Boaters are advised to watch for these devices when setting out on the rivers, especially at night or during periods of high water flow when these devices might not be easily seen.
