Fisherman Receives $12,000 in Fines and Forfeitures for Turbot Infractions

Joey Leyte of Seldom has been convicted under Section 22(7) of the Fishery (General) Regulations for failing to accurately report the amount of gear fished, as well as exceeding his trip limit for Greenland halibut (turbot). Leyte was convicted in Gander Provincial Court on May 4, 2015, for breaching two counts of the Fishery (General) Regulations.
