Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium
The mission of the Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium is to foster curiosity about local marine life and inspire action toward personal and global sustainability through display, interpretation and direct action. At the end of the Aquarium’s season in October, all of the creatures on display are released back into the ocean.

Men of Steel: New Merchant Marine Exhibition at Railway Coastal Museum
The Railway Coastal Museum, located in St. John’s, N.L., recently opened a new exhibit titled The Deep Sea Schooners and Newfoundland’s Merchant Sailors. This exhibit was a joint-project between the museum and the Newfoundland Association of CN Pensioners, with the research done by the museum’s collections manager, Annette Hurley.

Fishing Vessel Catches Fire and Sinks at Cook’s Harbour Wharf
On September 18, 2015 at approximately 7 p.m., St. Anthony RCMP was dispatched to a complaint of a vessel fire at the Cook’s Harbour, N.L. Wharf.
The Cook’s Harbour Fire Department and St. Anthony Fire Department were already on scene when police arrived. The 65-foot Fishing Vessel Sylvialyn II, had caught fire while docked at the wharf at approximately 5:30 p.m. that afternoon.
