The Minister of National Revenue, Diane Lebouthillier, on behalf of the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, Jonathan Wilkinson, was in Cap-aux-Meules recently to participate in the official commissioning of the new high endurance, self-righting search and rescue lifeboat, named CCGS Baie de Plaisance.

Nickerson, 98, formerly of South Side, passed away on July 16 at the Camphill Veterans’ Memorial Hospital. Born September 28, 1920, in South Side, he was the son of the late Belmont Sr. and Susan (Ross) Nickerson. He was a veteran of WWII, joining the RCAF on August 6, 1941 where he served in Canada, Great Britain and Germany, until his discharge in 1946.
