Fish Canada Workboat Canada, the nation’s largest commercial marine show, returns to the Moncton Coliseum this Friday and Saturday, January 22-23, 2016. This year marks the 17th edition of this biennial event, which is attended by those who make their living on, in, and around the water, along with those who provide the related products and services to keep Atlantic Canada’s marine-based industries running strong.
“We’ve got an exciting event lined up,” said Show Manager Shawn Murphy. “It’s a full show with over 100 exhibitors from Canada, the United States and overseas, informative seminars, and visitors will even have a chance to get their photo taken with the ‘Lobster Roll’ – a unique motorcycle custom-designed to look like a lobster!”
“We’re also thrilled to have a newly completed Northumberland style Samson 45’ at the show,” Murphy added. “Fish Canada Workboat Canada visitors will be among the first to see the boat by D.J. Bait, which is powered by a Cummins 430 with ZF 301 transmission.”
The presentation of the Atlantic Canada Marine Industries Hall of Fame Awards has become a well-known component of Fish Canada Workboat Canada. At the show, the newest group of inductees in the categories of MARINER (anyone who works or has worked on the water in any marine industry), PROCESSOR (anyone involved in the business of processing, from line workers to company owners), and BUILDER (recognizing those who have made contributions without having directly participated) will be recognized. The 2016 honourees include:
- Walter Bruce (Mariner)
- Normand LeBlanc (Processor)
- Klaus Sonnenberg (Builder)
Additional show features for 2016 include a comprehensive seminar series with sessions covering: How to Increase Your Fishing Business After-tax Profitability; Fishing Safety Now; How to Expand Your Fishing Business Without Creating a Controlling Agreement; Ask a Banker; and How to Implement an Onboard Safety Program for Your Fishing Vessel – see the show website for the full schedule.
Visitors will also be able to connect with a wide range of exhibitors, take advantage of exclusive show specials (a sneak preview is available on the show website now) and enter to win thousands of dollars in door prizes.
Show Hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday, January 22 and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 23.
