Molluscan Shellfish Harvesting Re-opening in Notre Dame Bay

DFO advises that following acceptable water quality sampling by Environment Canada and shellstock sampling by CFIA, Notre Dame Bay will re-open for molluscan shellfish harvesting.

All waters within 3 km of the coastline and islands of western Notre Dame Bay from Cape St. John (located on the Baie Verte Peninsula approximate Lat/Lon 49.9717/-55.4759) east to North Head (located east of Fortune Harbour at approximate Lat/Lon 49.5437/-55.1594), will RE-OPEN for the harvesting of all bivalve molluscan shellfish.

Note that all underlying classifications remain the same. Only the emergency prohibition implemented based on the recent rain event has been rescinded.

This Prohibition Order NSN-2015-005 comes into effect at 1600 hours on May 15, 2015.
