N.L. Fisheries Minister Will Not Seek Re-Election

Newfoundland and Labrador Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Vaughn Granter announced today in Corner Brook he will not be seeking another term in the upcoming Nov. 30 provincial election.

Granter, a former educator, told a media gathering that he has accepted the principal’s position at Corner Brook High School.

He was first elected as MHA for Humber West in a February 2011 by-election and was re-elected in the general election later that year. In 2014, he was appointed minister of Environment and Conservation and was also responsible for the portfolios of climate change, labour relations, and multi-materials stewardship.

Granter has been minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture since September 2014.
