UPDATE – TSB Deploys Team to Investigate Placentia Bay Fishing-related Fatalities

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) announced yesterday it is deploying a team of investigators to Argentia, Newfoundland and Labrador, to investigate the sinking of a fishing vessel resulting in the loss of life of the three crew members. The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.

The Coast Guard is reporting that the bodies of all three fishermen who failed to return home on Tuesday have been recovered.

The body of one of the men was located early Wednesday morning around 7:30 a.m, while the second body was located at 10 a.m.

The third man’s body was recovered around 1 p.m.

The Canadian Coast Guard has confirmed that one body has been recovered and two other Placentia Bay crab fishermen are still reported missing, following an incident Tuesday.

The three fishermen, believed to be from the Southern Harbour area, were reported missing last night after they failed to return from their trip.

CBC is reporting that their speedboat capsized in strong winds somewhere between the community and Davis Island. Coast Guard and RCMP are currently involved in the search.
