4VWX Herring Fishery TAC Set at 21,000 Tonnes
The total allowable catch (TAC) for the 4VWX herring fishery has been cut by 11 per cent this year to 21,000 metric tonnes, down 50 per cent from the 42,500-tonne quota in 2018.

Herring Quota Receives Further Cuts
Further reductions in quota and fishing effort and increased conservation and management measures have been implemented for the Atlantic herring 4VWX purse seine fleet this year.
The total allowable catch (TAC) for the 2018/19 season, which ended on Oct. 14, was reduced from 42,500 to 35,000 tonnes in fishing area 20 (southwest Nova Scotia/Bay of Fundy), with the 2019/20 season, which opened on Oct. 15, operating on an interim TAC of only 50 per cent (17,500 tonnes).
