Lobster Fishing Area 14B Opening

DFO advises that the lobster fishery in Lobster Fishing Area 14B from a line drawn due west of Ferolle Point, North to a line drawn due west of Big Brook will open  Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 0600hrs. Traps may be set on May 20 and 21. No gear may be retrieved until May 22. Please be advised that the large lobster prohibition has been removed for areas 13 and 14 and licence conditions are available through the National Online Licencing System.

DFO advises that the lobster fishery in a portion of Lobster Fishing Area 14B (Point Riche to Ferolle Point) will open Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 0600hrs. Traps may be set on May 12 and 13. No gear may be retrieved until Thursday, May 14. Please be advised that the large lobster prohibition has been removed for areas 13 and 14 and licence conditions are available through the National Online Licencing System.

The PEI Fishermen’s Association’s LFA 24 Lobster Advisory Committee held a conference call this morning with all harbour representatives to discuss weather/ice conditions and the opening date.  The Advisory Committee reached unanimous agreement to recommend an opening of Friday, May 8th, 2015 for the LFA 24 Lobster fishery on PEI.  Department of Fisheries & Oceans (DFO) is considering this request.  Final confirmation from DFO is expected later today.  The PEIFA will update members ...
