Public Advisory: Mariners Advised of Closure of Placentia Lift Bridge
Mariners are advised that the Placentia Lift Bridge will be closed to all marine traffic beginning Monday, February 13, for approximately three weeks.
The closure is necessary to facilitate maintenance of the bridge, ensure the safety of workers, pedestrians and motorists, and allow the work to be completed as quickly as possible.

Removal of Former Placentia Lift Bridge to Temporarily Increase Tidal Flow Activity
The Department of Transportation and Works advises mariners that a temporary infill of a portion of the channel is taking place at Placentia to facilitate removal of the former lift bridge.

To facilitate the ongoing construction of the new Placentia lift bridge, the Department of Transportation and Works advises of the closure of Placentia Gut to navigation beginning Thursday, June 9, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily for an estimated two to three weeks.

Mariners are advised that work is ongoing in Placentia Gut related to the Placentia Bridge, and access to the channel underneath the bridge will be unavailable tomorrow (Tuesday, September 15).
A barge will be performing work in Placentia Gut beginning at approximately 4:00 a.m. continuing to 7:00 p.m. tomorrow. Mariners will be unable to pass through the channel at that time, and are asked to use extreme caution elsewhere in the vicinity of the bridge.

Mariners are advised that the previously announced planned closure of Placentia Gut to navigation on Thursday, September 10, has been rescheduled and will now begin at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, until noon on Saturday, September 12.

Mariners Advised of Temporary Delays at Placentia Lift Bridge
The Department of Transportation and Works advises mariners of intermittent delays to navigation through the channel at the Placentia Gut between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, and Monday, June 8.
The delays are necessary as part of the continuing construction of the new lift bridge across the Placentia Gut.
The delays are anticipated to be up to two hours and will only affect marine traffic. Vehicle traffic on the existing bridge will not be impacted.
