Status Quo for 2017 N.L. Recreational Groundfish Fishery
Ken McDonald, Member of Parliament for Avalon, announced today that there will be no changes to the regulations governing the recreational groundfish (cod) fishing season for Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec's Lower North Shore.
In 2016, the fishing season was extended by 14 days to allow a total of 46 fishing days. These measures will remain in place for the 2017 season.

Minister Encourages Anglers to be Aware of Defective Salmon Tags
The Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Environment and Conservation wishes to advise anglers in the province that recently distributed salmon angling tags that accompany salmon angling licences issued by the Wildlife Division have defects.
The licences and tags were distributed to vendors and subsequently purchased by anglers before the defects were discovered.
