Untagged Salmon Leads to $3,000 in Fines and Obstruction Charges for Gander Resident

George Leyte of Gander, NL was convicted in Gander Provincial Court on June 2, 2015 for breaching one count of the Fishery (General) Regulations and for obstructing a fishery guardian. He is ordered to pay a total of $3,000, forfeited his rod and reel and received a two-year fishing prohibition. Leyte was caught with untagged salmon, contrary to the regulations.
